According to the CDC, most adults should aim to walk 10,000 steps per day, which is about 5 miles. However, some studies suggest that health benefits can be seen with as few as 2,500 steps per day, and that even small increases in steps can be beneficial.
Walking can have many health benefits, including:
Improved balance, cognition, heart health, memory, mood, and sleep
Increased energy, stamina, insulin sensitivity, longevity, and HDL ("good") cholesterol
Lowered blood sugar, blood pressure, and LDL ("bad") cholesterol
Reduced risk of certain cancers, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke
Strengthened bones
Let's make June all about STEPS! Here is a tracker, to set your OWN daily, weekly, or monthly steps goal. Plus. how about a daily ten-minute walking podcast that helps you build an exercise habit that actually sticks!
