Finding Stillness in Change

October reminds us that change is natural. Trees let go of leaves so they can renew. You, too, can let go of what no longer serves you — stress, perfectionism, overextension — and make more room for what matters.

Mindful Practices for October

Here are ideas you can sprinkle through your day:

Leaf-watching meditation: Sit or walk in a spot with falling leaves. Watch them drift, notice their color, hear the rustle.

Mindful breathing outdoors: Inhale the crisp air; feel the coolness expand your lungs, exhale slowly.

Photo walk: As you walk, take photos of little things you notice — a bright red leaf, textures in bark, a cloud shape.

Journaling prompts: “What do I want to release this season?” “What’s nourishing me right now?”

Five senses check-in: Pause and name 5 things you see, 4 you hear, 3 you feel, 2 you smell, 1 you taste (if applicable).

Mindful cooking or eating: As you prepare your fall recipes, tune into the smells, textures, flavors — cook with intention.
